Tilly's Tattler - The Hike

TRWD24B

BEGINNINGS

Earlier today, Admiral Nelson, subbing (yes, this can be a pun if you like) for Captain Nelson-Crane and accompanied by a colleague, crewmen, the mayor, and volunteers, arrived at ‘point zero’, (Land’s End Pub) to begin the first of a series of investigative hikes around Loch Ness in search of evidence for Mr. Angus McDonald’s kelpie.

Admiral Nelson made frequent stops, however, before arriving, in order to snap pictures and take notes of interest.

Hikers were divided up into groups, and Nelson requested Mr. McDonald and the mayor (also a volunteer) to be on his team.

Nelson, when asked how Captain Nelson-Crane was feeling after his bout of food poisoning, the admiral said that Seaview’s chief medical officer (physician) would not clear the captain for any strenuous physical activity today.

Today's hike, however, was halted after a few hours, upon the discovery of an ancient burial site. It is uncertain when the hike will be allowed to resume near the area.

"Yes, we’re disappointed about the delay, however, this skeleton, most likely a Viking, was once a living, breathing human being like us. It makes one ponder. We're born, we live, we die, and in time, we’re forgotten. I can only hope that experts will be able to glean a little more information about this girl and bring her back to life, at least historically speaking."

HIKE HALTED UPON DISCOVERY OF ANCIENT BURIAL

"Ach, this'll set us back a bit," Mr. McDonald said, as the hunt for evidence of his kelpie was put on hold, to allow police and officials of the Heritage Trust to come out to investigate what appears to be Viking burial.

"He weren't watching were he were goin', that's all," McDonald said of the American sailor, who had stumbled and fallen into a slight depression which crumbled enough to reveal the skeleton.

The hikers were ordered to remain on site until they had been questioned as eyewitness. But by the time most had been, some were rather tipsy with some of the refreshments they’d brought along.

"No problem in that respect with Nelsons' party," a police officer said. "They only had hot soup and bottled water.

It’s still unknown at this time when the hike will resume.
